Community Engagement / Into Events!
|
March’s Artist of the Month is Vaughn Larry! A St. Paul RONDO native. He became inspired to pursue his passion in artistry after watching Bob Ross. He says any and everything inspires him to create when painting.
Love Bags: “Love, Peace, and Unity in the Community”
This month, we made love bags with community members and Model Cities residents. A special thank you to Central Village Park Block Club for sponsoring the bags! We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Miss Haskard from Kansas who knitted and generously donated 72 hats for the love bags!

Minecraft / Awesome Youth Builders! |
Our GRS interns got to explore VTAC this month while it's under construction! They took photos of notable parts of the architecture, including murals, and have begun adding extra detail to their model of Historic VTAC, as well as a little more detail to the rest of the street. Here's some details to watch for the next time you're in the server:
Our Minecraft History Project was Approved for a Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grant! This funding will allow the project to take off, with support for participant pay and equipment! Our thanks to the Minnesota Historical Society and the State of Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
The judging video for our Ice Palace Competition is LIVE! Join judges Dantes, Bob, and Atom to explore the amazing builds from this year, and learn some new architectural information as they choose our competition winners. See it HERE
Want to join the server, or get involved? The next open hours are March 24th, April 7th, and April 14th: the daily activities will include creating floating islands, exploring how to make fireworks (in-game only!), and huge patterned gardens! New Staff Welcome! / Nehemiah Jett, Relationship Manager
Nehemiah Jett is the brand new Relationships manager at VTAC! Nehemiah is tasked with creating and maintaining relationships between VTAC and Donors. He will also oversee the volunteer and intern processes as well as developing our artist membership programs. Nehemiah is a jack of all trades when it comes to his career path, from server, to community outreach, to childcare, to client advocate, to dishwasher, to low budget party magician, and bring pieces of his learned expertise from each position to now serve VTAC and the community. He grew up in Frogtown and is excited to be a part of something that not only impacts the community that nurtured him but expands to neighborhoods across the Twin Cities and beyond.
Construction Update / Stepping it Up!
825 continues to solidify! We now have fully installed functional stairs and finished Structural Steel! Likewise, our electrical rough ins are set up and ready for wiring and HVAC is roughed in and ready to be completed. Concrete has been poured both upstairs and down, and the rooms have been framed, with drywall installation beginning! Finally, we've got a new security guard on the roof. Tootsie the plastic owl is reporting for duty; no pigeon is safe from her rotating head!
Tootsie Says: For more info, check out our Construction Blog HERE!
Updates / A Message From Our Executive Director
Big Dreams & Big futures:
This is a time of awesome growth here at Victoria Theater Arts Center. We've brought on two amazing new staff, have two festivals being planned, and our brand new building is opening in just over 4 months! If there was ever a time to step in to support this community dream, it's now. Volunteer, Donate, and share our news and events, so when we open our doors this August, we open strong and together.
THANK YOU for continuing to believe, show up, and make 825 University the beautiful place it will become!
